Frequently asked questions: Adventure and trekking

Do you need experience to climb Toubkal?

In spring, summer and autumn no technical experience is needed, but you do need to be fit and able to walk for several hours at altitude. In winter, with snow and ice, high-mountain experience and equipment are required. It is always done with a local mountain guide.

Are there easy treks near Marrakech?

Yes. In the Imlil valley and the Ourika Valley there are gentle half-day or full-day walks between Berber villages, suitable for most travellers and for families.

What insurance do I need for trekking in Morocco?

We recommend travel insurance with medical assistance and cover for mountain activities or hiking. Check the policy conditions, especially if you are going above 3,000 metres.
