What we see

All on foot, almost always on flat ground. Each monument has its own ticket at the gate.

12th century

Koutoubia

Its minaret is visible from almost anywhere in the city. You don't go inside; the guide tells its story from the gardens.

≈ 45 min

Bahia Palace

Built in the late 19th century for a grand vizier, with zellige courtyards and painted cedar ceilings.

Mellah

The old Jewish quarter, with its spice market and the Lazama synagogue.

Souks and Jemaa el Fna

Dyers, blacksmiths and babouche slippers. The guide shows you how to tell what is actually made here. You finish in the square as the food stalls start setting up.

Full day

Tombs, madrasa and garden

Saadian Tombs, Ben Youssef Madrasa and Le Jardin Secret, with a lunch stop in the medina.

The shops

We pass through souks and workshops, but you don't have to buy anything or go into any shop. If you don't want shopping stops, tell the guide at the start. If you do want to buy, he takes you to workshops where you can watch the craftsman at work and explains how haggling works.

Before you book

Frequently asked questions

What is an official guide and why does it matter?

City guides in Morocco need an official licence and carry an ID card. In the medina people will come up to you offering to take you to the square or to a place that happens to be open only today; they aren't guides and usually end up taking you to a shop where they earn a commission. With an official guide you know who is with you and what you're paying.

How much do the monument tickets cost?

Each monument charges its own entry fee at the ticket office and prices have gone up in recent years. As of 2026, the Bahia, the Saadian Tombs, the Ben Youssef Madrasa and Le Jardin Secret are usually between 50 and 100 dirhams per adult each. Check before you go, because they change often, and bring cash in case the card machine isn't working.

Can you do it with children?

Yes. The half day is the best option with small children, because you walk for about 3 hours on flat ground. The guide adapts the pace, stops for an orange juice on the square and tells the stories in a simple way. The souks are awkward with a pushchair because of the crowds and motorbikes; a baby carrier works better.

Can I change the route?

Yes, the tour is private and the guide adapts it. If you've already seen the Bahia, it can be swapped for the Maison de la Photographie, the Dar el Bacha museum or a walk around the Kasbah. The Majorelle Garden is outside the medina and about 15 minutes away by taxi; tell us when you book so we can fit it into the day.
